Continuations (pt. 1)

1. The Universe

In a small packet of space,
an old man tells a story –

because if the universe refuses to disclose its secrets,
we have our own.

But only so much water.
To tell all of them to everyone we know
is impossible.

(A flower, on the other hand, dries.

A flower, on the other hand, is sure
of losing everything it has.)

The old man’s voice quivers like petals
in the middle of a faraway earthquake
as if it were saying Listen,

this is a song I’ve forgotten.

This is how I feel: as if I need just
one word
before I begin singing all of them
